Training Courses

We are delighted to announce that our Summer Online Course will be going ahead and is available for booking at OTB Learning. We now offer 2 options for teachers looking to complete training programmes in relation to our Weaving Well-Being Programme. Details of these programmes are shown below.

Summer Online Course (With EPV Days)

This year we are running our Summer Online Programme through our publisher's site OTBLearning.ie. The course can be pre-booked but will not open until Monday 3rd July 2023. To qualify for EPV days the course must be fully completed on or before 3.00 pm on Friday 18th August, 2023.

The cost of this comprehensive programme has remained at €69 per person. There are also group rates available for schools and to avail of these rates you can go to www.otb.ie/wwb-epv-otb.

Under DES rule 58 of the Rules for National Schools, teachers are entitled to Extra Personal Vacation (EPV) after completing our summer online course.

There are 5 Modules included in this programme.

Module 1 - Introduction to Well-Being in The Classroom

This module explores the concepts of well-being and Positive Psychology. It also provides a general overview of the Weaving Well-Being Programme.

Module 2 - Positive Emotions, Character Strengths and Flow

This module covers the 3 Positive Psychology topics of Positive Emotion, Character Strengths and Flow. It explores research on each, as well as ideas for applying each topic on a personal level. It also explains how each of these topics are covered in the Weaving Well-Being programme (2nd and 3rd class).

Module 3 - Resilience and Mindfulness

Module 3 explores the concepts of resilience and mindfulness as well as offering opportunities for personal application. It also explores how these concepts are covered in the Weaving Well-Being programme. (4th Class).

Module 4 - Positive Relationships and Self-Efficacy

Module 4 covers Positive Relationships and self-efficacy, including growth mindset and conflict resolution. It shows how these topics are explored in the Weaving Well-Being Programme (5th & 6th Class)

Module 5: Whole School Approach, Teacher Well-Being & SSE

Module 5 covers a whole-school approach to well-being and outlines how the SSE process can be used to promote well-being with reference to the Well-Being Policy Statement & Framework for Practice (DES, 2018). It also explores practical strategies for enhancing Teacher Well-Being.

The programme has just been updated and now includes new elements/lectures. Many of these changes/additions are listed below:

  • Relevant components from the new Junior Infants to 1st Class programme, Welcome to Well-Being are now included for junior primary teachers
  • A section on the Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Children’s Well-Being is also added
  • Includes a dedicated support page for teachers of Ukrainian refugees
  • New Learning Log* for each module has been added at the end of each module

Online Course (Without EPV Days)

We have a shortened version of our Summer Online Programme for teachers which is available all year round. The programme can be found on our publisher's online learning website www.otblearning.ie. The cost of the training programme is €35. This online programme would also be suitable for parents who want to learn more about the tools and techniques contained in the programme when supporting their children to enhance their well-being.
